First post in over FOUR YEARS, can you believe it!
This is a real beaut though, and one of the classics where I’ve no idea how it happened. Although I’m willing to put money on some combination of the icy Norwegian winter and alcohol, as that combo is definitely a recurring theme on here. Sorry for terrible photo quality.
Right, so as we all (?) know, falling on the ice is one of the main sources of good old bruising in a country such as Norway. This December we’ve hardly had any ice or snow (lasted for maybe like, three days?), yet I’ve already fallen on the ice once myself (hurt like hell for a couple of days, waiting to see if the bruise will develop) and only a few days ago I got this picture sent to me by my cousin:
She says she got this from walking up a steep hill which was covered in ice, and obviously falling over. When she finally made it to the top, there was a woman sat there crying, and it turned out this poor woman had fallen in the very same spot and broken her arm. Ouch. I’ve never broken anything despite falling over like an idiot all the time, but I imagine it to be rather painful.
Yet another one that isn’t me, I’m afraid. Sorry if you feel cheated. I know I do.
This is my friend Pernille, who fell on the ice (while there still was some ice) on her way back from some very late night drinks somewhere. Somewhere in the process of opening/cropping/saving/uploading this pic, I’ve somehow managed to set it as my desktop background. Hah. Sorry Pernille but I will be changing back to Leatherface, hope you don’t take too much offence.
AND NOW, A POLL! How exciting!
Strictly speaking not a bruise, but I did somehow hurt my foot whilst getting out of the shower the other day. There was blood and everything. So obviously rather than cleaning it up, I rushed to find my camera so I could get a picture. Do you want to see an extreme closeup of my toes, all covered in blood? Yay or nay?
Once again, the difficulties in getting decent pictures of bruises has become almost as painful to me as the bruise itself. When I woke up a couple of hours ago and first saw my knee I was like WHOA LOOK AT THAT MOTHER and now having taken about a dozen pictures of it or more, I don’t see how anyone will really be impressed at all.
ANYWAY. It’s getting purpler, and it’s spreading round to the other side a bit. Hopefully it’ll get grosser still in the next couple of days. Aren’t you excited!? Turns out my ancle is also a bit bruised, and my other knee as well, but nothing remotely picture worthy as of yet. I was hoping my left hand would get bruised too, as earlier the same night I fell with my entire body weight on that bony bit where the wrist turns into hand, but it’s not an area that bruises easily after all.
Oops, hairy legs.
Got a pretty good bruise last night (fell on the ice, yet again). It’s the type of bruise that takes a while to fully develop. Last night it was just really swollen, and it’s now turning more blue along the edges. LUCKILY, I had the presence of mind to snap a few shots of it before I passed out, but for obvious reasons they’re not very good pictures:
This is just below my knee, by the way, so it’s all swelling, I’m not giving any credit to my knee for that.
And now a couple of pictures taken ten minutes ago:
Good stuff, huh?
I’ll keep you posted. OBVIOUSLY.
PS: You can click on the images for bigger versions, you know.
These bruises are not very spectacular (it’s a combination of this and the fact that I’ve also misplaced my non-laptop camera that’s the reason why I’m pointing them out to you in these pics, where possible), but there are quite a few of them and they are the first ones I’m posting that I actually currently have! I got these during the weekend, probably at Grünerløkka Brygghus, Mono, O’Reilly’s, Aku Aku or Revolver. Or somewhere else entirely, who knows?
I also got a bit of a whiplash from falling backwards on the ice (I was too busy telling my friend to be careful, to actually take any care myself) and I have a feeling there might be a bruise on its way, but it’s too soon to tell. I’ll obviously keep you posted.
I’d also like to add a disclaimer: in all the pictures that I post, I am actually as fully clothed as possible (hi joe). Just thought I’d put that out there.
This is a lot more mundane. I got the straightest bruise of my life (probably) from moving a shelf from Sofienberg back to Grünerløkka with my sister a few weeks ago.
